John Sverre Olausen, or as he was more commonly known, Bro, Pop, Grandpa, peacefully took his last breath January 3rd.
John spent his early years in Torrance, CA where he loved to spend time at the beach with his two siblings. Eventually he joined the US. Army because as he liked to tell his brother, " I'm a John Wayne patriot." In addition to being a proud veteran he was also an excellent rifleman, barber/hairdresser, business owner and skilled craftsman.
John was married twice. During his first marriage he was blessed with 3 wonderful children. His second marriage brought him a loving stepdaughter and a granddaughter he actively helped raise.
At the age of 20, while still in service to his country, John had to face the challenge of losing a leg. He never let this lessen his life. Years later he lost his other leg. During this time and until his death, he was taken care of by several family members, but mostly by his super caring daughter Suzanne.
John will be dearly missed by his family who like to now think of him strumming his heavenly guitar. Of course a nice glass of wine is sitting nearby.
John is survived by his daughter Suzanne Guiles, sons Steve and Chris Olausen, his "bro" Rich, his best friend Onyx and numerous grandchildren. A service will be held at Brusie Funeral Home, January 22nd at 11:00 AMwith burial immediately following in the veterans section of Glen Oaks Memorial Park.
