John A. Olson

John A. Olson, 65, of Moxee passed away peacefully in Yakima, WA on Monday, June 30, 2025. He was born on September 2nd, 1958 in Bagley, Minnesota to Floyd and Ruth (Johnson) Olson. His family moved to Washington and lived in the Sunnyside area.
John graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1978 and immediately joined the Navy. He became an iron worker in the Sea Bees, serving in California and Okinawa for 6 years.
Upon returning to the Northwest, John worked a few jobs in the area. In 1988 he began working as a custodian at Yakima Valley Community College (now Yakima Valley College). He retired in 2023, but continued working part-time until earlier this year.
John greatly enjoyed the outdoors, loved fishing and eagerly hunted ALL regional game birds.
John chose Moxee as his community. He liked walking around town morning and evening visiting friends, especially at Mugshotz Café and Moxee Market. He was always willing to be useful to anyone in need. He will be missed by many.
A couple weeks before his death, however, he was talking a lot about the LORD Jesus Christ and mentioning the fact that he believed in the LORD's death and resurrection for him. Thus, he said he wasn't afraid to die.
He is survived by his father, Floyd Olson (96) of Sunnyside, and several uncles, aunts and cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth, and his brothers Keith, Gale and Robert.
John's Celebration of Life at 1:00pm on Friday, July 25th, 2025, at Brookside Funeral Home in Moxee. Pastries, snacks, and coffee, will be provided by Mugshotz Cafe.
