John Conant Ostrom

John C. Ostrom, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, December26,2025 at Falmouth Hospital.

Born on July 9, 1935, in Harford, CT. John attended Mount Hermon School for boys in Gill, MA and graduated from Hobart College in Geneva, NY with a regular commission in the United States Air Force.

After serving in the 405th Fighter Wing in the Far East, he was honorably discharged and went to work for the New York Telephone Company. He retired from NYNEX as a manger in-charge of facility recovery before moving to live in Waquoit, MA.

John served as Master of the Winyah Masonic Lodge No. 866 in Pelham, NY. He was a 32-degree Scottish Rite Mason in the Valley of White Plains, a Shriner of Aleppo Temple and an affiliated Past Master of Marine Lodge, Falmouth, Ma where he served for many years as clerk of the works supervising the renovation of the lodge. He was also a member of the Bourne Lions Club and an Honorary Life Member of the Waquoit Bay Yacht Club.

John is predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Dorothy M. Ostrom. He is survived by his sister and brothers - Susan O Erickson of Southport, CT, Phillip G Ostrom of San Jose, CA, William M Ostrom of Waquoit, MA, Peter R Ostrom of Muskegon MI, As well as his three sons -Jeffery M Ostrom of Tinton Falls NJ, Michael C Ostrom of Beaufort SC, and Scott A Ostrom of Hilton Head SC., 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the Spring at Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church of Falmouth, please check back for service details.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rectors Discretionary Fund for St. Barnabas Church.
