Known John most of my life. A man of character and integrity who shared more to many. A great musician inside indeed and shared the stage with him a few times and many years in choir. In Jesus name, he hurts no more for at Jesus feet is where he sits..prayers for the family who are left behind.

John Oswalt was a true friend. He was gentle and kind. He had an easy laugh and he always had a genuine smile for me. He made me feel welcome wherever we were, in a cramped plant nursery or a big room full of people. I will miss him and I hope he knew how much he meant to me. You are in the Master's Garden now, my friend.

We will certainly miss John at our Master Gardener meetings and events. He brought so much information to the table. His warmth and kindness were such wonderful attributes. Will continue to keep his family in my prayers.

I've known John Paul since 1965 when I attended Northwood High School, and we were in the band and stage band together. I played piano in the stage band, and one of my fondest memories is of John Paul singing 'Let It Be' and he could really sing it! Come along, fast forward, and John Paul sent me some sedum from his garden July 2021 knowing we shared a common interest of gardening - Cuban Oregano, Vicks Plant, Lemon Ball Sedum, and several others. They came US Mail, 250 miles, wrapped in a paper towel, and he told me "You just put it on the soil, and it roots and spreads". I did what he said with awesome results, and I still have them on my patio thriving to this day. He meticulously explained what each was, whether it had medicinal purposes he and Donna had tried, or whether it would scare away the skeeters and worms with its scent. That's John Paul - a lifetime of caring, giving, sharing.
Heaven has gained an angel with a glorious voice, yet I know he will be missed by his many friends and family. Prayers for you as you reflect on the many good times you shared and the meaningful life he lived.

I knew John Oswalt growing up with him in Blanchard, where we sang together at First Baptist. At Jacob's Well, a Christian coffee house, we both sang as soloists. One time Barbara Sutton, John, John's wife and myself did a quartet of Heaven Came Down and I got to sing the second verse as a soloist and then in the chorus John, his wife and Barbara Sutton came in after I sang the second verse. I will always remember what a nice voice that John had. He took voice lessons at Centenary, where Horace English was a voice teacher. I will forever be grateful for having known John and having gotten to grow up with him in Blanchard.

John and I taught together at North Highlands Elementary for several years. We worked well together and became good friends. Our daughters went to school together. He was one of the most kind hearted people I have ever known. We shared a love of gardening and kept in touch through the years even though I had moved. We accidentally ran into each other a few months ago and caught up when I was in town. I'll always treasure that last visit.

John Paul & I were classmates at Blanchard Elementary & later, coworkers at Johnny Gray Jones Shelter, thankfully not on same shifts as we'd have been in trouble! Reunited over the past year via FB & later as he & I were able to talk & text while he was ill, we discovered we had lots in common. He bore alot these last months. A heart for God & a gem of a friend.
