John V. Ottoshavett, 74, of Danbury, Connecticut, the beloved husband of Laura (Krisko) Ottoshavett, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 19, 1951, to John and Clara (Piskura) Ottoshavett.
He graduated from Danbury High School and worked as a Union carpenter for many years, where he was known for his dedication and innovation. He was an avid music lover, fisherman, gardener, and Giants fan. Most of all, he loved spending time and vacationing with his loved ones.
In addition to his wife Laura, John is survived by his daughter, Jenna Ottoshavett and his son-in-law Garrett Scalzo, his brother Joseph Ottoshavett, his brother-in-law John Krisko, and sister-in-law Marie (Krisko) Lathrop and her husband Ed. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lucas and Farrah Scalzo, as well as many nieces and nephews.
To quote his nephew Billy Ottoshavett: "Uncle John gave me the gift of hope, and seeing what a good life looks like, so I had a vision of what to reach for".
John is predeceased by his brother William Ottoshavett and sister Christina Sherwood.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his quiet strength, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
Services will be held at Cornell Funeral Home in Danbury on Wednesday, July 2. Visitation times are from 10:30 AM-11:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at Cornell. Interment will follow at St. Peter cemetery at approximately 1:00 PM. Afterward, family and friends are invited to celebrate John's legacy at Chuck's Steakhouse in Danbury.
