Joseph D. Ottoshavett

"Master Carpenter"

Joseph D. Ottoshavett, 78, of Southbury, CT, formerly of Brookfield, was reunited with his wife in Heaven on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Regional Hospice and Homecare in Danbury. He was the adoring widow of Kathy-Jo (Craven) Ottoshavett who predeceased him in 2023.

Joseph was born in Danbury, CT on June 8, 1947, son of the late John and Clara (Piskura) Ottoshavett. Growing up in Danbury, Joe went on to pursue his passion of working with his hands. Being a talented carpenter and builder, Joe was also an avid gardener, a longtime member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, as well as a member of the CT Carpenters Local 24. Being meticulous by nature, Joe always paid great attention to detail. In particular, Joe took immense pride in his perfectly manicured home and garden. In the thirty years he was married to Kathy-Jo, Joe adored all of the memories made with his new extended family.

Joseph leaves behind to honor and cherish his memory, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family and friends. He was pre-deceased by his siblings, John V. Ottoshavett, William Ottoshavett, and Christina Sherwood.

Arrangements: A calling hour for Joe will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Brookside Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 200 Benson Road, Middlebury. A Prayer Service will be held at the conclusion of the calling hour Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held privately and at the convenience of the family this spring at Newtown Village Cemetery in Newtown.
