John Raymond Owens,79, of Glasgow passed away on April 20, 2025, at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky. John was born on August 05, 1945 in Buckner, Illinois to the late Cecil Owens and the late Permelia Bennett Owens.
He dedicated 30 years of his life to working as a pipefitter at the General Motors assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
John’s early years were spent in St. Louis, Missouri, where he developed a personality that so many would grow to love throughout his life. He was an extremely dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, cherished by his family for his unique sense of humor and his unwavering support. He took great joy in spending his free time engaging in various projects, playing golf, gardening, and, above all, creating lasting memories with his loved ones. Alongside his wife Loretta, he enjoyed traveling and sightseeing, which provided him with numerous adventures and cherished moments.
John is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Loretta Owens, and their children: Brenda Owens (Mark Pilger), Patricia Owens, Melissa Owens, Tyra Shehan (Phillip), and Derrin Whitehead. He also leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His nephew, Skip Stahll, also survives him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Patsy Georgevich and Betty Wren. He is also reunited with his daughter, Susan Blust (Doug Blust).
John Raymond Owens will be remembered for the love for his family, his engaging personality, and his passion for life. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the memories they shared.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Owens will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and after 8:00 AM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
