Barrington - John N. Pacheco,83, affectionately known as John to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on the 3rd of January 2026, at the Lincolnwood Nursing Home. Born on the 15th of February 1942, in Sao Miguel, Azores, John's journey brought him to Barrington over 58 years ago from East Providence. His presence in the community was a testament to his enduring spirit and commitment to his roots.
John was the beloved husband of Maria I (Soares) Pacheco, with whom he shared a blissful marriage of over 62 years. He was the cherished son of the late Joao and Alexandrina (Amaral) Pacheco, a lineage he honored through his life's work and community involvement. John was a dedicated father to his son Michael Pacheco and his wife Ana of North Attleboro. His role as a grandfather to Amanda and Jason, as well as a great grandfather to Nolan, Liam, Camilla, and Alana, was filled with the same love and devotion he had for all aspects of his life.
For over 25 years, John was the proud owner of Star Wine and Deli, a liquor store in Pawtucket that became a staple in the community. His entrepreneurial spirit was matched only by his dedication to his faith as a long-standing parishioner of St. Luke's Church. John's interests extended beyond his business and church activities; he was an avid fisherman, a passion that connected him with nature and offered moments of tranquility and reflection.
John's commitment to his cultural heritage was evident through his active membership in the Holy Ghost Brotherhood of Rehoboth. He also devoted over 10 years as a member of the Holy Ghost of Holy Rosary Church, where he shared his faith and service with others in the community.
Those who knew John would describe him as a loving, kind, and faith-filled man. His gentle demeanor, combined with a strong sense of purpose, made him a pillar in the lives of those he touched. John's legacy is one of unwavering love for his family, dedication to his community, and a life lived with a deep and abiding faith.
As we say goodbye to John N. Pacheco, we celebrate a life rich in love and service. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, and his spirit will forever be a beacon of light for his family and the many lives he touched. John's journey on earth has concluded, but the mark he left on this world will endure for generations to come.
