John Palko Obituary

John Edward Palko, 72, of Penn Township, passed away Jan. 23, 2026. Johnny was born on June 20, 1953; he was the son of the late George Palko and Charlotte Plues. John was the owner of Palko Truck and Trailer Shop Inc. He was the proudest businessman and a true testimony to hard work and "old school mentality." John had a tough exterior, but deep down, he had a very giving and compassionate heart. He was an all-for-you-and-none-for-me type of man, right up until the moment he passed. He was unwavering in standing up for his beliefs and family, and defending both was of the utmost priority. John was a collector of many things, some of his favorites being antiques, trains, Mack Trucks, and Christmas decorations. His favorite time of the year was Christmas; some would say his decorated house gave Overly's "a run for their money." One of John's favorite places to be, and where he first met the lord, was his family farm. During some of the best years of his life, John would be seen bailing hay and feeding his cows there. John was strong, fearless, courageous, selfless, loving, spiritual, and a true trailblazer. Throughout his entire life, his relationship with God was something he held dear to his heart. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his loving wife and business partner, Mary (Ferrarini) Palko. John will be profoundly missed by his longtime partner, Kathleen (Cookie) O'Rourke, who stood by his side and shared his passions and joys, especially that of Christmas time. His son, Edward John Palko, and daughter-in-law, Amanda Marie Palko, plan to continue his businesses; they hope they can make him proud and continue his legacy. After all, Palko Truck and Trailer Inc. celebrated its 70-year anniversary this year, which he was extremely proud of. John has a daughter, Chelsey Lynn Palko, of Ruffs Dale; and eight grandchildren, whom he very much adored. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, at VAIA FUNERAL HOME, 463 Athena Dr., Delmont (724-468-1177). Service will be held the following day at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, also at VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC.
