John Palyo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beinhauer-Connell Funeral Services on Mar. 18, 2026.
Age 91, of South Park, passed away peacefully at our home on March 15, 2026.

Born on July 7, 1934, to Julius G. Palyo and Mary Andriso, Jack grew up in Duquesne and lived a long and meaningful life rooted in family, hard work, and the quiet strength that defined his generation. He was a man who didn't need the spotlight - his presence, his consistency, and the way he showed up for those he loved spoke louder than words ever could.

An avid Pittsburgh sports fan, Jack passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family, shortly after watching his beloved Penguins win a 4-3 game - a fitting and peaceful final moment for a lifelong fan.

To his family, Jack was more than a father and grandfather - he was a steady hand, a source of wisdom, and someone whose love was felt in the simple, everyday moments. He was a proud and loving Pap, and nothing meant more to him than the time spent with his family.

He is survived by his lifelong sweetheart and beloved wife, Nancy Marie Halter, along with his loving daughter, Diane (Timothy) Foster, whose unwavering love and devotion defined the past five years of Jack's life. Nancy's quiet strength, patience, and spiritual guidance were a steady force in Jack's life, helping carry him through the years with grace and dignity. As his full-time, 24/7 caregiver, Diane gave of herself completely - with strength, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility that never wavered. Because of her, Jack was able to remain in the comfort of our family home, surrounded by love, dignity, and family. Her care was not only constant, but deeply personal - a true reflection of a daughter's love in its purest form.

He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, grandson Axton William and granddaughter Tianna Marie. Jack recognized both for their intelligence, hard work, love, and unwavering dedication as caregivers to their beloved Nana and Pap - a role they embraced with compassion and heart. Their bond was something truly special. The family will never forget the sight of Axton performing CPR on his Pap in hope of extending his life - a powerful reflection of love, courage, and selflessness in a moment that will remain with us always.

Jack spent his entire working career in a management role with Westinghouse, where he was respected for his leadership, strong work ethic, and commitment to doing things the right way. His career reflected the same values he carried throughout his life - responsibility, integrity, and quiet dedication.

Jack will be deeply missed by the Palyo and Foster families, and by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family and friends will be received at Beinhauer-Connell Funeral Home, 5120 West Library Avenue, Bethel Park, PA 15102, on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

A Funeral Service with Prayer, Scripture, and Remembrance will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

All are welcome to join in procession to Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2900 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, for a final blessing and interment.

The family extends their sincere thanks to the South Park Township Police Department and Tri-Community South EMS for their professional, compassionate, and dedicated efforts.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Library Volunteer Fire Company (https://libraryvfc.com/) and the Broughton Volunteer Fire Department (https://broughtonvfd.org/), whose members provide exceptional and dedicated service to the South Park community.

Faith was an important part of Jack's life. He believed in the truth and guidance found in the Bible and trusted in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. His life reflected a quiet faith, grounded in love for family, humility, and the belief in walking a path guided by God's Word.

Surrounded by the love of his family and sustained by his faith, Jack's final days were a reflection of a life well lived - marked by devotion, dignity, and the quiet assurance of peace.
