John Fletcher Patmon Jr.

John F. Patmon, Jr. was born October 16, 1955 in Waterproof, Louisiana and raised in East Cleveland, Ohio. He was the first born son of the late John Patmon, Sr. and Anna L. Patmon.

John was an avid musician and science fiction lover (Sci-Fi). Beginning his journey for music early in middle school lasting throughout his life-time, he played both saxophone and bass in band and rhythm teams. He graduated from Shaw High School (class of 1973) where he flourished in the Shaw High Marching Band and wenet on to sudy for 1 year at Bell and Howell (later known as the Ohio Institute of Technology) in Columbus, Ohio and 3 years at Livingston College in Salisbury, North Carolina. He acquired his certification from ETI Technical College in Cleveland, Ohio and worked at Van Dorn Plastics & Machinery for about 15 years untill he became disabled.

Outside of his career, John's love for music continued as a bassist, gigging with local bands and friends around the Cleveland area. He regularly attended music festivals and concerts, connecting with fellow musicians and friends through his passion and love for jazz and funk music. He was a wonderful brother, uncle, and friend who will forever be in our hears and minds. We will all continue to cherish and honor the memories we've been able to make with him.

John succumbed to lung cancer on December 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his two sister, Vickie and Cheryl Patmon, his mother and father.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his sister April Ballard; brother, Brian Patmon; beloved nieces and nephews: Leroy Ballard, Jr., Da'Mon Ballard, Sr. (Teyonia), Daphney Rashid (Khalil), Samantha Bernard (Justin), Kashina Hurley, and Lexus Hawkins; eight loving great-nephews and nieces and a host of cousins and friends. He will forever be with us all.
