John Pearson, age 82, passed away peacefully on August 3.

Born in Brookings, South Dakota, John was the son of James and Lucille. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, where he discovered his passion for electrical engineering-a field in which he would build a long and successful career in designing transformers. John continued working well beyond retirement age until two weeks prior to passing.

John was a lifelong learner and avid reader, especially Star Wars, Star Trek, and other science fiction. He was competitive when it came to games and was a skilled chess player. He also found joy in gardening, sharing his harvest of tomatoes, zucchinis, and cucumbers with neighbors and friends. He was a loving caretaker for his wife.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Carol; was proud of his children, Deborah (Lew) and James (Laurel); his cherished grandchildren, Deelia and Cal; and his loving sisters Mary and Margy.

John was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, gardener, engineer, tinkerer, mentor, and reader. He cared so much for his wife and family. He lives on in our memories and through our care for those around us.
