Obituary published on Legacy.com by Robertson County Funeral Home on Mar. 8, 2026.
John Lewis (J.L.) Pearson, Sr., age 91, of Cross Plains, passed from this life on Saturday March 7, 2026, at Morningside Assisted Living. Funeral services will be conducted Friday March 13th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. David Dean officiating. Interment will follow in the Williams Chapel Cemetery with Bill Pearson, Wyatt Pearson, Caleb Pearson, Drew Pearson, Pearson Worsham, Zach Alley, Chaney Webber, Montana Jones, and C.R. Boyd serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Anderson Boyd, Bentlee Webber, Ron Ryman, Raymond Hooper, and Micah Buck. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

J.L.'s life began on a farm alongside his daddy, Roy, teaching him how to farm, starting with mules and ending with tractors and combines. He went on to teach his sons to love and appreciate the land and farm as well.

J.L. graduated from East Robertson High School in 1953. While in high school, he played football and was in the FFA. He joined the United States Army at age 20 and took basic training in Arkansas and then served in Taiwan. J.L. returned home in 1957 and married, the now late Nancy Ann Cherry, and had three children: John Lewis Pearson, Jr. (Diane Lassiter Pearson), Bennie Richmond Pearson (Judy Lynn Arms Pearson), and Beth Pearson Sloan (Raymond Hooper).

J.L. was a faithful member at Williams Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and treasurer over the years. He always loved spending time with family and friends and very rarely met a stranger. He loved spreading the word of Jesus Christ. His hobbies were walking and riding his 4-wheeler with his much-loved dog, Bree Bree.

J.L. was preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Eula Benton Pearson, along with his grandson, Ashton Joyce. He was widowed in 2012 by his wife, the late Jean Wix Pearson. J.L. remarried and was preceded in death by his wife Frances Adcock Pearson in 2025.

In addition to his children, he is survived by his grandchildren: William Pearson (Jenny Jo), Jessica Pearson Worsham, Ashley Pearson Boyd (C.R.), Aimee Pearson Jones (Montana), Maranda Webber (Chaney), and Nicole Alley (Zachary), by his step grandchildren: Jeff Hogan (April), Sharon Way (Rob), Dewayne Hogan (Shannon), and Eric Hogan (Tara), by his great grandchildren: Wyatt Pearson, Caleb Pearson, Drew Pearson, Pearson Worsham, Annalynn Boyd, Anderson Boyd, Lettie Jones, Ada Jones, Hattie Jones, Bentlee Webber, Maddy Webber, Raelynn Alley, Will Guisinger, Justin Hogan, Elijah Hogan, Connar Hogan, and Emerson Hogan, and by his great great grandson: Hollis Hogan.

If so desired, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Williams Chapel Baptist Church. All donations can be sent c/o the Robertson County Funeral Home.
