John Peceniak Obituary

John J. Peceniak
John J. Peceniak, age 82, of Shorewood since 2004, and formerly of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 1, 2025, at home, with his loving family by his side.
Born April 23, 1943, in Joliet, he was the son of John G. and Ann (Tobias) Peceniak, and was a graduate of Joliet Township High School with the Class of 1961. John continued his education at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Pharmacy, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree.
John worked as a pharmacist for many years for St. Joseph Hospital, and later was employed by Osco Drugs and Doc's Pharmacy until his retirement after 35 years of service to his patients, customers and community.
A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he especially enjoyed being actively involved in all the sporting events, dance recitals, and school activities of his grandchildren. John enjoyed all sports, including bowling, fishing, following the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox, but loved golf the most and felt time spent on the golf course was time well spent. He also loved all animals and enjoyed his many pets over the years.
John will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and for being a jokester who did not believe we should take life too seriously.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Barbara A. (Kramerich) Peceniak of Shorewood; his daughter and son-in-law, Kerri and Tim Ciesla of Shorewood; three grandchildren, Casey, Caeley and Caitlyn Ciesla; one sister, Patricia (David) Foster of Wellington, IL; two brothers, Dennis (Fay) Peceniak of Arizona, and Lawrence (Mary) Peceniak of Joliet; his wife's brother, Richard (Maurine) Kramerich of Florida; an aunt, Marie Peceniak; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John G.and Ann (Tobias) Peceniak; his wife's parents, Al and Anne (Bauer) Kramerich; his sister-in-law, Joanne (Szawars) Peceniak; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family would like to extend their special thanks to John's caregivers, Mira, Lana, and Tina, who cared for him over the last several months.
