John Edward Peeples was born on August 19, 1955, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to John Wilbur Peeples and Ernestine (Johnson) Peeples. On September 16, 2025, he transitioned to eternity with his Lord.

John attended Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, graduating in 1974. He later attended Henderson State University. For many years, John worked as an Information Technology Technician for General Electric, Texas Instruments, and other IT companies before retiring.

Known as "Edward" to his family and friends, John met the love of his life, Gwendolyn Faye Bohannon, while studying at Henderson State University. The couple delighted in a courtship that would last almost 45 years, marrying on September 27, 1980. Their union was blessed with two children.

John accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in his faith. He led his family to unite with New Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, usher, and Sunday school teacher. He was also involved in Youth Ball Activities with the community Boys Club.

John loved watching and talking about all types of sports. He was humorous and, most importantly, a family-oriented man. He will be fondly remembered for his faith and love for his family.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ernestine (Johnson) Peeples; his son, John Edward Peeples, Jr.; and two grandchildren.

John leaves many to cherish lasting and loving memories, including his wife of almost 45 years, Gwendolyn Peeples; son, Lamar Peeples; daughter, LaVonda Steen (Charles); son, Courtney Peeples (Whitney); 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Marcus Reed; in-laws, Carolyn Rucker, Charles Washington, Dennis Bohannon, and Valerie Washington; and a host of other relatives and friends.
