John James Perrine Jr.
August. 25, 1944 – September 21, 2025
John James Perrine, Jr. "Johnny" or "Jack", 81, of
Milton, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025. He was born in Albany, N.Y. to John James Perrine, Sr and Evelyn Jeane Hoffman. He was one of four boys born to the Perrine clan-he, being the oldest.
Jack, as his Northern family called him, graduated from R.C.S (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) School in 1962 in Ravena, New York and quickly enlisted in the Navy (Service dates 8/1962 – 8/1968). He did his boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois, his AFU "A" School in Whiting Field, Florida and his TD "A" School in Millington, Tennessee. He was stationed at Ellyson Field in Pensacola from 8/1962 to 8/1964 and NAS Meridian in Mississippi from 8/1964 to 8/1968. While at Whiting field, he and a buddy drove from
Milton, Florida to Atmore, Alabama to a Sock Hop where he met and fell in love with his one and only true love, Margarette Joan Taylor. They married after four months of dating and had four beautiful children in their twenty-seven years of marriage.
During his military career he was a TD3 (TradeVMan) Petty Officer Third Class. He holds certificates for the following: Petty Officer Leadership Course, Good Conduct Metal (that being funny for us knowing he had a temper when he didn't get his way), Avionics Fundamentals School, Basic Electronics, Nuclear Biological and Chemical Warfare Defense Course, National Defense Service Metal, Nuclear Accident Assistant's Team Training, Motion Picture Operators School, Electronic Fundamentals DC Course at Pensacola Junior College, Tradevman School, 1966 Naval Aviation Safety Plague with the most outstanding safety record achieved with Helicopter Training Squadron at Ellyson Field in Pensacola. He was a helicopter flight instructor during Vietnam and had never flown a helicopter. When asked how he was the instructor with no experience, his statement was "Anyone can read a book". He did have flight training (up in the air), flight simulator hours (on the ground), and months of schooling.
After getting out of the military, he worked as an electrician, TV repair man/part-owner, maintenance, newspaper machinist, in casinos as a gaming manager, maintenance, security, slot manager, supervisor, Blackjack dealer, and gas station owner.
He has left us with many memories and funny stories that could never be replaced. He will be sorely missed, but we know that he is in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John James Perrine, Sr and Evelyn Jeane Hoffman; paternal grandparents, Guiseppe (Joseph) Perrine and Florige Vendinnson (Florence Dean); maternal grandparents, Arthur Plott Howard Hoffman and Eudora M. Dunbar; and son-in-law, James A. Dreher.
He is survived by four children; Teresa Rene' Dreher, Rebecca Lynn Baisden (Scott), James Alan Perrine (Kathy) and John David Perrine; seven grandchildren: Kenneth (Melissa), Krystina (Ryan), Taylor (Jonathan), Bevan (Chelsea), CJ, Bryce, and Aidan; four great-grandchildren, Veronica, Nathaniel, Zoey, and Charlie; three brothers, Jerry (Diana), Richard (Joyce), and Ronald; five nieces; nine great-nephews; and two great-nieces.
