Scott Whatley Obituary

Scott "Grey Fox" Whatley was born in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Double Springs, AL, to the late Roy and Lola Whatley. Scott has been a resident of Jay, FL, for over sixty years.

Scott was an airman of the United States Air Force. He was a Korean War Veteran and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

After his honorable discharge, Scott was in the tire business for over twenty years, where he operated Big 10 Tires of Milton, FL, for sixteen years. Scott was a deputy with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff Department, where he was a resource officer at Jay High School for ten years.

Scott also was an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Faith. He loved his Pastor, Bobby Carnley, and church family of Ebenezer Church in Jay, FL. His favorite Bible verse is John 3:16, and because Scott accepted Jesus and Jesus' great sacrifice of dying for each and every one of us, Scott is now in the presence of His savior. To know Scott is to love him. He shared the agape' love of Christ every day. He invited everyone to know our Heavenly Father and get their names written in the Lambs Book of Life so we can have a reunion with our loved ones that are waiting for us.

Scott was preceded in death by both of his parents; the love of his life, his wife, Lorene Morris Whatley; three brothers: Rev. Lacey Whatley, Tully Whatley, and Neil Whatley; one sister Naomi Whatley; two sons, Waymon Whatley and Brian Whatley; and one grandson, Scott Lockett.

Scott is survived by three daughters: Wanda Lockett (Gary) of Pace, FL, Debora Orr "Wild Flower" (Charles) of Alexander City, AL , Joanne Norris "White Dove" (Scott) of Alexander City, AL; one son, Timothy Whatley (Teresa) of Alexander City, AL; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a very special and beloved brother-in-law, Ray Morris (Nell) of Pace, FL.

Services will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Bobby Carnley officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Hammock Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Ebenezer Church Youth Ministry, 4200 Ebenezer Church Rd, Jay, FL 32565.
