In Loving Memory of John "Jack" Perry

Sunrise: January 6, 1945 – Sunset: January 7, 2026

John "Jack" Perry was born in Rhode Island to the late John S. Perry and Hilda C. Perry.

He lived a life rooted in faith, service, leadership, and unwavering devotion to his family. A proud Catholic, Jack's faith guided his life and informed the values he modeled daily-integrity, compassion, humility, and service to others. He was also deeply proud of his Portuguese heritage, which he honored through tradition, community involvement, and lifelong fellowship.

On May 31, 1969, Jack married the love of his life, MaryJean Medeiros, in Oakland. Together they built a strong and loving marriage grounded in respect, partnership, and shared purpose.

Jack dedicated 33 years of distinguished service to the Federal Government, where he was known for his professionalism, commitment, and strong sense of duty. His passion for public service extended into his community, where he also served as a Former Commissioner with the City of Hayward, contributing thoughtfully and faithfully to the betterment of the city he loved.

A respected leader within the Portuguese and Catholic communities, Jack proudly served as Past Grand President of the Brotherhood of St. Anthony, Honorary Supreme Officer of the P.F.S.A., and a devoted member of F.E.S.M. Manteca. His leadership was marked not only by titles, but by mentorship, generosity, and genuine care for others.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John and Hilda Perry, and his brothers, Ronald Perry and Jimmy Perry.

He leaves behind a legacy of love through his devoted wife, MaryJean Perry; his daughters, Deborah Perry and Denise Gray; and his son-in-law, Conrad Gray. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Andrew Henderson, Jahrie Gray, Steadman Gray, and Jermaine Gray, and a cherished great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren, with the joyful anticipation of a fifth great-grandchild expected in March. He is also lovingly remembered by his granddaughters-in-law, Arial Henderson, Nicole Gray, and Veronica Gray.

Jack is further survived by his brother, Mark Perry; his sister, Kimberly Perry; numerous nieces and nephews; and his two beloved godchildren, Lisa (Borba) Wa and Monica Corona, who held a special place in his heart.

John "Jack" Perry will be remembered as a man of faith, quiet strength, cultural pride, and steadfast love-a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and community leader. His life was truly well-lived, and his legacy will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know him.
