John Pettypool Obituary
John Burroughs Pettypool, 77, of Rustburg, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025. John was born in Brookneal, Virginia, on April 8, 1947, as a son of the late John Burrus Pool, Jr. and Georgia Edens Pool. John was retired as a professional truck driver, and he enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Pool.
He is survived by his children: Heather Mays of Monroe, John “Jay” Pool (Dawn) of Monroe, and Stephanie Wright (Adam); eight grandchildren: Zander Mays, Brianna Mays, John Michael Pool, Jillian Brown, Natalie Pool, Carter Pool, Haleigh Wright, and Oland Wright; a sister, Georgia Carol Seekford of Gladys; and his dear close friend, Dorothy “Dottie” Turpin of Rustburg.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with Pastor Timothy Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
