John Phillips Obituary
He was born and raised in Big Stone Gap, Va. He was a retired coal miner for Westmoreland Coal Co. with 20 years of service. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Jesus Name.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya Cline; son, Marvin Phillips; parents, John H., Sr. and Martha Phillips; brother, Paul Phillips; sisters, Brenda Ramey, Judy Vaughn and Helen Craft.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Phillips; children, Jonathan Phillips (Alisha), Clinchport, Va., Terri Braden (Vijaya), Knoxville, Tn., Robin Mullins, Big Stone Gap, Va. and Kristin Redd (Terry), Johnson City, Tn.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; siblings, Scott Phillips (Margaret), Francis Bobich, and Joyce Edwards (Johnny), all of Big Stone Gap, and Angie Phillips, Knoxville, Tn.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00pm – 2:00pm Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W., Big Stone Gap, Va. The service will follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Eddie Clifton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Kerns Family Cemetery, Cloud High Road, Duffield, Va.
Pallbearers will be: Jonathan Phillips, Terry Redd, Dillion Phillips, Clinton Salyers, Danny Baker and Nicholas Tanguay.
