Funeral Service for John Matthew Pilcher, 55, A Hay he pinga "He follows", of Fargo, ND will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 at the Lake Traverse District Center, Browns Valley, MN with meal being served at noon followed by Funeral Service at 1:00P.M. Pastor Jamie White Thunder, CRE Gerald Heminger Jr, and Episcopal Lay Readers officiating and Joshua Shepherd and Destry Owen traditional services. Drum Group will be Long Elk. John Matthew Pilcher, age 55, of Fargo, ND journeyed to the spirit world on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Il on July 06, 1970 to Donald and Evelyn "DeMarrias" Pilcher. He graduated from the Browns Valley High School and pursued a degree in carpentry and as an electrician at the Sisseton Wahpeton College. John was known for his dimples and big smile, his infectious laughter, kind heart, and his adventurous spirit. John was passionate about dancing at pow-wow's, his recovery and being around his kids, nieces/nephews, grandkids and family. He enjoyed fishing, spearing, hunting, thrifting, beading, playing pool (he thought he was a pool shark) and spending time with friends. John loved his snacks and his old man naps. John didn't say much, he didn't express his emotions even through his happiest or most troubled moments. His heart was full of love, joy, humility, respect, resilience and so much more.
John is survived by his mother, Evelyn (DeMarrias) Pilcher of
Sisseton, SD; his brother, Michael Pilcher of Omaha, NE; brother, Kenny Pilcher of Plymouth, MN; and sister, Leona Pilcher of Peever, SD; little sister, Aubrey Pilcher of Macy, NE; his son, Ryan Adams of Fargo, ND; his daughter, Ceyanna (Chuck) Blu of Watertown, SD; his daughters Alexandria, Jaelyn, Aliyah (Drama) and son Jazrek of Agency Village, SD; his uncles, Jacob"Jake" Demarrias Jr of
Sisseton, SD and Kirk Adams of Browns Valley; his nieces, Hailey and Brenna Shepherd of
Sisseton, SD; nephews Joshua and Brandon Shepherd Jr of
Sisseton, SD; baby nephew Kreed Pilcher of Plymouth, MN; grandbabies, Calais, Cian and Caisyn Blu, Greyson Hayes, Aquene Richotte, Ezra Pilcher, ZaVaya German, Zavien German, Amiri Finley, and Tate Yuha Mani Owen.
John is preceded in death by his dad, Donald "Bucky" Pilcher; his grandson, Arlen Renville IV; his sister, his grandparents, Jacob and Mercy (King) DeMarrias and John and Leona (Pelkey) Pilcher.
