John Plonski Obituary
Born on April 3, 1945, in Erie, John was a lifelong resident who left a lasting impression on the community through his work, passions, and unmistakable presence. He graduated from Tech Memorial High School in Erie and went on to build a successful career as the owner of Plonski Electrical and Heating. His entrepreneurial spirit didn't stop there-he also owned and operated Wild Bill's Boat Service, combining his love for the water with his dedication to serving others.
John was known throughout Erie not only for his skilled craftsmanship but also for his larger-than-life personality. Nicknamed "Wild Bill," he lived life with energy and authenticity. Whether he was out fishing, hunting in the woods, or cruising Presque Isle Bay on his boat, John found joy in the outdoors and shared that passion with those around him.
A familiar sight around town for many years, John was rarely seen without one of his beloved bulldogs by his side. From Tilly to Molly, followed by the unforgettable Gertrude and most recently Eva-his loyal companion until the very end-John's bond with his dogs became part of his identity. He could often be spotted truckin around Erie with one of them riding shotgun, bringing smiles to those who recognized him.
John is survived by his son Bernard Plonski (Brandie) of Erie; daughter Mary Plonski; four grandchildren Savanna (Jared), Nathen, Jonathan and Tyler; three great-grandchildren Greyson, Luca and Tymeir; two sisters Judy of Texas and Diane of Florida; and his cherished dog Eva. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Christine Plonski.
A memorial service will be held later in Erie, Pennsylvania.
John William "Wild Bill" Plonski will be remembered for the life he built with hard work and heart-and for the unmistakable way he made every street in Erie feel like home. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
