John Ross Poole

John Ross Poole, age 91 of Cordele, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025. He was born on January 3, 1934, to the late Harry Lee and Jesse Vining Poole. John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marshallville. John enjoyed living life to the fullest, traveling to the mountains and most of all staying at the Nashville Hotel. He was a very protective man especially to the residents at the assisted living facility. When his family would take him to out to eat, John's choice was Waffle House or the Mexican restaurant. John was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy. He is survived by his children Leila Rainey (Scott) of Cordele, Sheba Johnson (Keith) of Arabi, Peggie Morris (Randy) of Cordele and Jimmy Smith (Lynn) of Hampton, GA; a nephew Lindsey Poole (Karen) of Fort Valley; affectionately known as "Papa Ross" to his grandchildren, Nikki, Bobby, Rebecca, Katelyn, Chris, Tyler, Macy, Jessica, Benji, Jennifer, Julie, and Timmi; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.
