John Prieur Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sylvain Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Dec. 12, 2025.
John Patrick Prieur, age 58, of Hampton, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on December 9, 2025. John was born to Patrick Prieur and Sharon Prieur Horen (née Sanders) in Pontiac, Michigan on September 9, 1967. Later, John proudly served in the United States Air Force, during which he was stationed at Castle Airforce Base and was deployed to Guam during Desert Storm. While in service, he achieved an Associates degree. After leaving the military in 1990, John worked for nearly 35 years as an aircraft mechanic for Delta Airlines.
John was known by friends and family for being fun-loving, intelligent, "ornery," and up for adventure. He especially loved fishing, hiking, camping, and his dogs. He often traveled, especially to state and national parks to fly fish or to experience new things like dog sledding or seeing the northern lights. He also enjoyed the finer things, like a nice cocktail and a good meal.
John was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Elaine, and brother Micheal. He is survived by his fiancé, Joanne Ianitello, his former wife, Tamra, and their daughter Abby-Gayle (Andrew Burmesch.) He is also survived by three siblings: Daniel, Mary Hersch (Kerry,) and James (Rachel.)
John will be remembered for his loyalty to friends and family, his unwavering integrity, and his sense of fun. He was loved, and he loved in return. He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in John's name to the PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) Foundation at PKDcure.org
