John Richard Pugh, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Born on August 3, 1939, in Union, NJ, he was the son of the late Simpsom C. and Ruby L. (Hornung) Pugh.
John was a graduate of Union High School, Class of 1957 and honorably served his country in the U S Navy as an aircraft mechanic from 1958 to 1962. He worked for Ingersol Rand as a technician for 31 years followed by Columbia Gas, now Transcanada, as a natural gas turbine technician prior to retirement.
John was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed doing automotive repair. He also enjoyed reading novels, visiting the Saylorsburg Flea Market and reminiscing about the "good old days" with friends and family. He was a longtime member of the Wind Gap American Legion.
He is survived by sons, Chris Pugh and his wife Lesa Pugh and Mark Pugh and his fiancé Faith Hulse; daughters, Jenifer Sanchez and Carrie Zeigafuse and fiancé Jeremiah Esterly; 10 grandchildren and sister, Nancy Sostarecz. Along with his parents, John was predeceased by his sister Lois V. McFadden and his beloved dog, Buddy.
Private military graveside services will be held in Forks Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth.

John and I met in the Navy at A school at Memphis and our first duty station was Key West and we managed to get transfered to Virginia Beach,cost me a box of cigars.We life long friends an had many great times together. I spent many weekends with him and his family in Easton.He went home on leave to Missouri Through the years when I was in the area we spent time together and it was like we had never been apart.He will be greatly missed.
