John M. Puskar, 93, formerly of Plains Township, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, at Allied Services Center City Skilled Nursing, Wilkes-Barre.
He was born in Plymouth, a son of the late Joseph and Catherine Dikart Puskar. John attended Plymouth High School and was a member of St. Nicholas-St. Mary Parish in Wilkes-Barre. He was employed in the local garment industry, having worked for many years at Sea Isle Sportswear, Wilkes-Barre, as well as Mr. Z's, Plains Township. His favorite pastimes were talking about sports and politics, and he had a great love for his dogs and some of the local wildlife that would regularly stop by to visit.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Kutz, Mary Golumb, Bernadine Kozloski, Margaret Mevec, Anne Montedonico, and Catherine Chabak, and his two brothers, Joseph and Francis.
John is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy Geiger Puskar, and their sons, John "Duke" (Janel) Puskar of Sweet Valley and Michael (Kimberly) Puskar of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jillian and Kamryn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, in St. Nicholas-St. Mary Parish, 226 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Lehman Township.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre.
