ALBANY - John F. Rafferty Jr. passed away, on January 11, 2026, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, surrounded by his loved ones.
John was born on January 2, 1949, to Mildred M. Rosenberger and John F. Rafferty Sr., in Troy, N.Y. John leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Donna J. Rafferty; his two children, Rebecca Rafferty Rupeka and John F. Rafferty III. He also leaves behind his brother, Arthur Rafferty (North Port, Fla.); and sister, Anne Hynes (Peter), (Port Charlotte, Fla.). He also leaves behind his three grandchildren, Tayler Rafferty (Jeffrey), Sean Rafferty and Ivan Rafferty; as well as a great-granddaughter, Delilah Jensen; and several nieces and nephews.
John graduated from SUNY Cobleskill in 1970, as well as Pace university in 1972. John opened Creative Pension Consultants Inc. in 1989, dedicating most of his life to helping others learn and save for their retirement.
John's greatest passions in life were his family, the Boy Scouts, scuba diving, boating, camping and exploring new places in his RV.
John's family wishes to thank all the Doctors, Nurses and staff, especially the 4th floor, at St. Peter's Hospital, for the exceptional care given to John.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with John's family, Thursday, January 15, 2026, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, N.Y. 12206. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only.
Funeral services, Friday, January 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Christ the King Church, Westmere, N.Y., where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, immediately following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to St. Peter's Hospital.
