John was born in St. Louis, MO on December 29, 1936 to William and Dora (Corbisier) Resler. They moved to Juddville in Door County, WI when he was a young child with his siblings, Joanne, Lenore, Bill, and Mary. He attended Gibraltar High School graduating with the Class of 1954. He served his country in the U.S. Army, entering into active service on September 27 1955, and served two years in Germany. Upon returning home, he met his future bride, Betty Jane Anna Tanck, of Egg Harbor, at the Milwaukee Shoe factory in Sturgeon Bay. They were married on June 28, 1958 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Egg Harbor and were blessed with nearly 60 years of marriage. John also served in the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring in 1976 with the rank of Sargent First Class.
He was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Sturgeon Bay. John worked as an electrician at PBl in Sturgeon Bay and Olsonite in Algoma. He always stayed busy, if he wasn't fixing something, he was working in the flower gardens with his wife, traveling, watching his sons playing sports, or out fishing.
He will be deeply missed by his sons, John Resler, Jr. of Savannah, GA, Mike (Audra) Resler of Panama City. FL, Todd (Angela) Resler of De Pere, and Troy Resler of Sturgeon Bay; seven grandchildren, Dirk (Racheal) Resler of Savannah, GA, Britney (Chris) Frias of Hinesville, GA, Nicholas and Brett Resler both of Panama City FL, Morgan, Marissa, and Gavin of De Pere; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Jorgensen of Green Bay; and special family friends, Adam (Carmon) Busch of Greenville and Alex Busch of Sturgeon Bay.
John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dora; wife, Betty; siblings, Joanne Tomlinson, Lenore Wilke, and Bill Resler.
Per John's wishes, there will be no funeral service. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors in the Egg Harbor Town Cemetery. A celebration of life may be held at a future date - time and location to be determined.
