John Thomas Riccardi, 83, passed away on November 26, 2023, at his home in Forest Grove, OR.
John was born in October 1940, in Detroit, MI. He was the seventh of eight children born to Natal and Lena Riccardi. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
John married the love of his life, Carol Ann Drouillard, on April 25, 1959, in Detroit, MI and remained married until Carol's death in 2002. Several years later he had a commitment ceremony with Joy Hills who eventually passed away in 2015.
John was known as a fix-it man, a Jack of all Trades as it were. Everything from construction work to cake decorating. He loved to help others and would help anyone in need day or night. He refused to retire and kept working until his health no longer allowed him to.
John was known for his silly sense of humor, his work ethic and his many musical talents. Those who knew him early on said that he could play any instrument he picked up after just a couple of minutes. Also, he enjoyed singing karaoke whenever he could.
He is survived by his children listed here in order, Theresa, John II, Starr, Jennifer, Deborah and Paul. Also, his grandchildren are Melissa, Jayme, Jessica, Brysen, Arianna, Isaac, Jesse, Amber, Janelle, and Madison. His current and former sons and daughters in law include Michael Farrell, Lewie Segers, John Moultrie, Suzie Edous, and Dana Riccardi.
It is difficult to sum up his life in a few short words. What I can say is that to know him was to love him, his goal was to make you smile and feel at ease, and he REALLY liked vanilla ice cream.
