Wade Funeral Home & Crematory - ArlingtonJohn Truman Robinson, known to many simply as Truman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and proud veteran, passed away on August 10, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by family, at the age of 79.
Born on August 14, 1945, in Cleburne, Texas, Truman was the son of Hubert and Gladys Laverne Robinson. He grew up in nearby Alvarado, where he developed the values of hard work, service, and loyalty that would guide his life.
Truman served his country with distinction in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a member of the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, the “Wolfhounds,” part of the 25th Infantry Division, known as “Tropical Lightning.” He carried out his service with strength and pride, earning the Bronze Star Medal with “V” device for Valor, the Army Commendation Medal, the Air Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with three campaign stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with device bar.
Following his military service, Truman dedicated 38 years to LTV/Vought Corporation, where he earned the respect of his colleagues through his hard work, dependability, and integrity.
A devoted family man, Truman found joy in spending time with his loved ones and was a longtime member of Moose Lodge 1818 and VFW Post 8561. He was also a passionate barbecue enthusiast, always ready to bring people together over good food and good times.
Truman is survived by his wife, Beverly; his only child, Justin Robinson, and Justin’s wife, Kristi, and their three sons, Cole and his wife, Nicole, Beau and his fiancée, Hannah, and their youngest, Dane. He is also survived by Justin’s mother, Donna Robinson, and his sister, Susie Deal. Through his marriage to Beverly, Truman’s family extended to include her three children and their families: Freddie Denbow, father of Danielle, who, with her husband, Tate, has three children, Chancee, Creece, and Teague; Phillip Denbow, father of Colby and Jacob, and Jacob’s fiancée, Sophie, with their daughter, Lakyn; and Jamie Taylor and her husband TD with sons Daimian (deceased) and Braxton. Truman is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Truman was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Gladys Laverne Robinson; his brother, James Robinson; his sister, Linda Thomas; and a grandson, Daimian Taylor.
