John Rocchi Obituary
Loving Husband, Father & Papa
John Rocco Rocchi, 88, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Cynthia "Cindy" D. (Nelson) Rocchi.
John was born on December 27, 1936, in Waterbury, a son of the late Ernest and Eva Rocchi. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Rocco and Marietta Orso, who he called Ma and Dad. John was a 1954 graduate of Wilby High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Airman. After the service John earned his certificate of completion from the Connecticut School of Electronics. John worked as an electronics technician for Farrell Foundry, Lewis Engineering, Timex Corp. in Middlebury and Bendix in Cheshire until his retirement in 1995. John was an avid flea marketer proudly known as "King of the Smalls" for 60 plus years.
Besides his wife Cindy of 47 years, John leaves to cherish and honor his memory; his children, John A. Rocchi of Thomaston, Andrea Vercillo (Paul Vercillo) New Haven, Elaine Rocchi Hamill (Samuel Gervase) of Holly Springs, NC, Michelle Black (John Black) of Trumbull, three loving and wonderful grandsons, Marcus Black, Jordan Black, Spencer Hamill and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank (Carmella) Orso, John (Eleanor) Orso, Anthony Orso, Nicholas (Laura) Orso and Vincent Orso and sisters, Bertha (Sal) Divito, Alberta (Romeo) Barbieri and Ann (Joseph) Mannetti.
Arrangements: A calling hour for John will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 785 Highland Avenue, Waterbury. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in John's memory to: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel "Church Restoration," 785 Highland Ave., Waterbury, CT 06708.
