John W. Roth, 80 of Aledo, went to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Funeral services will be on Friday, May 3rd at 11:00 at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation is prior to services from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery, rural Aledo. Memorials made be made to the First United Presbyterian Church, Moline, or Youth Hope at Camp Summitt.
John Willard was born on October 27, 1943, in Monmouth, Illinois to Willard & Gladys (Dunlap) Roth. He married Florence Kennedy on August 22, 1964, in Aledo, Illinois.
John dedicated his life to the Lord and mentoring children through Youth groups at Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church, Youth Hope at Camp Summitt, Youth for Christ trips to Washington DC and woodworking. He led Sunday school at Sunbeam, attended bible study and loved gardening and woodwork. He was currently a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Moline. John enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s ball games and would travel to Chicago to see them play.
Those left to cherish John’s memory include his wife, Florence; daughter and son-in-law: Andrea & Rick Sales of Henderson, NV; Grandchildren: Alexis Sales and fiancé, Nick, Hailey Sales and R.J. Sales; Siblings: Dick & Chris Roth of Alexis, Marge & Jack Cavanaugh of Grainger, IA, Peg Chambers of Galesburg, Anne & Kendal Rogers of Monmouth, IL, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Gibb of Dubuque, Iowa. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother, George Roth, a daughter, Georganne Roth, a brother-in-law, Ronald Gibb, sister-in-law, Carol Roth and nephew Mike Roth.
