John Leonard Rudman, 75, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025. Born on February 1, 1950, in Barberton, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late John and Josephine Rudman.
John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant. After his service, he built a life rooted in love, laughter, and deep devotion to his family and passions. A practicing Catholic, John lived his values through kindness, service, and compassion.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Kostyshyn Rudman; his son, Richard Rudman of Ohio; and his cherished grandchildren: Grace Rudman, Allison Rudman, and Aviara Kostyshyn. John was also a proud brother to five sisters-Martha Wisby, Catherine O'Quinn, Amelia Rudman, Monica Cameron, and Rose Crasi-who brought joy and lifelong connection to his world.
A true outdoorsman, John had a lifelong love of fishing. He cast his line into the waters of Lake Erie during his Ohio years and later embraced the thrill of saltwater fishing after moving to Virginia Beach. His love for animals was just as strong-he even created a bird rescue to care for feathered friends in need. Though he claimed he wasn't a "cat person," all that changed when Carol introduced Raven to John she became a close companion to John and Carol. Raven became his constant companion and comfort, always close by his side.
John had a quick wit and a gift for making others laugh. A natural jokester, he brought humor into every room he entered and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love, and light-heartedness.
John's love of life, his loyalty to family, and his big heart will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
