John M. Ruiz

John M. Ruiz, aged 81, of Clermont, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024. Born on March 20, 1943, in New York, NY, John grew up in "El Barrio" Spanish Harlem with his loving mother, Basilia Reyes, and his two brothers, Jose and Pedro. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who touched the lives of many with his warmth and kindness.
John is survived by his devoted wife and partner of 38 years, Carmen Ramirez, and his cherished children: Yvette Jusino, Jacqueline Ferreiras, John Ruiz (Children of Alice Ruiz), and Joseph John Ruiz (Gauthier) (son of Donna Cullen). He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who will carry on his spirit and values.
Throughout his life, John dedicated himself to his family and community. He was known for his ability to touch the lives of many by running a successful soup kitchen at the Holy Apostle Church in New York City. He enriched the lives of those around him and made sure he helped as many people as he could.
A tribute to John's life will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. The details of the service are as follows:
Public viewing with friends and family: 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Final farewells and Dove release: 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM
The services will be held at the Brewer & Sons Funeral Home at 1018 West Ave, Clermont, FL 34711. These services are expected to be streamed online and a link will be available on the Brewer and Sons website. We invite you to fill out the Tribute Book and leave a message, favorite memory, or a photo of you with John.
In lieu of flowers, we would love if a donation was made to the Church of the Holy Apostle (NYC) or The Mike Conley Hospice House (Clermont) in John's honor.
John will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
