John Sabolevski II passed away on March 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and boundless adventure. He was born on August 23, 1957, to the late John Sabolevski and Jacqueline E. (Davis) Reed in Keene, NH.
Growing up in Keene, John's spirit was shaped by his passion for wrestling, teaching himself discipline and determination that would guide him throughout his life. After graduating, he enlisted in the Army, serving his country with pride for three and a half years, his service coinciding with the end of the Vietnam War.
Following his military service, John embarked on a journey of service and exploration. He joined the Peace Corps, dedicating himself to making a difference in the Central African Republic. It was during this time that his passion for helping others continued to grow, eventually leading him to a career in special education.
It was in this field that he met the love of his life, Joy, with whom he shared a passion for teaching and helping children. Their love blossomed quickly, and after only a few months of dating. They eloped on April 6, 1985, and embarked on a year-long adventure in Alaska before settling in Candia, NH, where they would spend the next 30 years raising their beloved son, Jake.
Throughout Jake's upbringing, John and Joy took great care to cultivate in him a deep appreciation for exploration and adventure. As a family, they embarked on journeys together, unveiling the marvels of the world to Jake. From the historic streets of Germany to the picturesque landscapes of France, from the charming towns of the Czech Republic to the vibrant culture of Mexico, and from the breathtaking beauty of Canada to the tropical paradises of Jamaica, Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic, each destination became a canvas upon which they painted memories of love and togetherness.
Once Jake had graduated and joined the military John and Joy still enjoyed traveling. One of their favorite traditions was renting a cottage on the "7 mile beach in Jamaica," where they would spend quality time together, soaking in the sun and creating lasting memories.
John's career in special education was marked by his unwavering dedication to helping children overcome obstacles and thrive. He held multiple positions within the field, each one a testament to his unwavering commitment and passion for making a difference in the lives of those he served. He owned and operated the "COOL School" Center of Optimum Learning, a specialized learning environment designed to support children who needed extra care and attention. Later, as the Director of Student Services at Crotched Mountain School, John poured his heart into ensuring that every student received the support they needed to succeed.
Above all John's love for his son, Jake, and his wife, Joy, was boundless and unwavering. His devotion to their happiness and well-being knew no bounds. Whether it was through enriching travels, meaningful conversations, or simple moments shared together, John consistently demonstrated his deep affection and support for his family. He cherished every opportunity to create lasting memories with them, infusing their lives with joy, laughter, and love. John's legacy of love and devotion to his family will forever remain etched in their hearts, a beacon of light guiding them through the darkest of days.
John Sabolevski will be deeply missed by his wife, Joy Sabolevski; son, Jake Sabolevski; sisters, Charlene and her husband Randy Fowler, Marie and her husband Clem Lounder, and Brenda Collins; brother, Joe and his wife Sherrie Sabolevski; and many other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his brother, Butch (Walter Reed), and his parents.
A celebration of life will be held on April 6th from 12 noon to 4 pm at Papagallos Restaurant, located at 9 Monadnock Hwy in Keene. A buffet will be served.
