John (Sam) Morris

John Sam Morris, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, in Sweet Home, Oregon, where he spent his final years surrounded by the beauty of nature.

Born on January 15, 1932, in the state of Oklahoma, to James Sam and Lula Isabell, Sam was the only boy out of 9 children. His journey through life was filled with love, laughter, and countless stories. He moved to California, where he lived most of his life with his wife of 59 years, Jonita, and their three children. His life was a testament to hard work, faith in Jesus Christ, and the love within family that withstands the trials of life.

Sam was known far and wide for his storytelling. He had a knack for turning ordinary events into tales that left everyone chuckling. He also told stories accompanied by the twang of his guitar. He shared his love for God and His message of hope by playing music for others. His stories and music will be dearly missed.

A man of sincere faith, Sam loved Jesus and lived his life as a shining example of kindness and generosity. He was also strong and stood up for what he believed in. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, instilling in them the values of hard work and dedication.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Javene Morris; his three loving children, Sam Morris, Cheri White, and Kevin Morris; stepchildren Melonie Escalera, David Britt, Diane Britt, Reuben Abney, Daniel Kidwell, Wanda Butler, Denise Rehana, and Cody Paasch, a large extended family of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many others who adored him.

Sam's legacy of laughter, stories, and faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He leaves behind a family enriched by his wisdom and uplifted by his joyful spirit. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his stories and songs will continue to echo in our memories.

A celebration of Sam's life will be held at 10 am on August 8, 2024, at The Summit at Canyon Hills. After the service, friends and family will gather at Hodel's to share stories over a meal together.
