John Sarti Obituary

John loved nothing more than lighting up the barbecue and gathering his family for a Sunday dinner. He delighted in WWE wrestling, rooted fiercely for the Detroit Tigers, and tended to his garden with the greenest of thumbs-especially his fig trees, grown from cuttings brought over from San Marino decades ago. A friend to all, John radiated warmth, humor, and generosity. His door was always open, and it was impossible to leave his home without sharing a story, a laugh, and at least one glass of wine.
He is survived by countless beloved family and friends, including his son Steven Sarti; daughter Cynthia (Tom) Nieman; grandchildren Lindsay and Thomas (Pauline); and his great-grandchildren Liliana, Alex, and Amelia, the newest member of the family. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Patricia; and his brothers Vic (Mary), Armando (Maria), and Silvano Sarti.
Visitation Friday 3-8pm with a 7:00pm Rosary at Wujek - Calcaterra & Sons Inc., (Shelby) 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. Funeral Saturday Instate 9:30am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church until Mass, 10:00am. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the San Marino Social Club Scholarship Fund are appreciated. Please share memories with the family at their online guestbook at WujekCalcaterra.com

Dear Sarti family, I am truly crushed by the passing of your Father.
He treated me as a third child after our meeting at the San Marino Social Club. Dinners and meeting other club members. I will always be greatful.
Bocce Ball, kindness and love! I am most glad to have met you, your family and friends. Thanks for allowing me many fine year at the SMSC.
