John Francis Scarfo, 85, of Londonderry, NH, passed away surrounded by his loving family on August 20, 2024 at the Community Hospice House. Born in East Boston, MA on December 14, 1938, he was a son of the late Domenic and Ida (Cappannelli) Scarfo. He shared 60 years of marriage with his wife, Genevieve (Perillo) Scarfo, with whom he had three children, John, Stephen and Andrea.
John was a first-generation Italian American and he was very proud of his Italian heritage. As a baby, he won a most beautiful baby contest. John was raised in Medford, MA and was a graduate of Medford High School. He had a long career as an IT professional at Liberty Mutual, retiring after 52 years. John was very social and enjoyed music, dancing and golf.
John is survived by his wife, Genevieve Scarfo of Londonderry, NH; his children, John M. Scarfo and his wife Sue-Ann of Newmarket, NH, Stephen Scarfo and his wife Petra of Raymond, NH, and Andrea Canny and her husband Jeff of Londonderry, NH; his brother, Sistilio Scarfo and his wife Jennie of Arizona; his grandchildren, Alex, Kyle, Thatcher, Benjamin, Domenic, Alivia and Gianna; his great-grandson, JJ; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Dottie Allen and her husband, Hollis.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 25 from 3PM – 6PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 26 at 2:30PM at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 172 Belmont Street, Manchester, NH.
