John J. Scarpato, age 90, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at Naamans Creek Country Manor. John was a lifelong resident of Chester, where he was raised and educated, attending St. James High School. Throughout his impressive career, John dedicated many years of service to Fair Acres Geriatric Center in Middletown, and he spent 30 years at The Scott Paper Company, where he worked on a finishing machine. John was known for his love of life, which was evident in his cherished possession-a Monte Carlo that he took great pride in. He found joy in the art of ceramics and formed a special bond with his beloved Boston Terriers, who brought him endless happiness. John had a special passion for the Christmas season, often transforming his home into a festive wonderland with his beloved revolving Christmas tree adorned with treasured ornaments. Each holiday season was filled with warmth, laughter, and joyous gatherings, which became the highlight of his year. His joyful spirit and festive traditions have left an indelible mark on all who knew him.John was predeceased by his parents, Francis J. and Regina J. Swanson Scarpato, and his siblings: Francis J. Scarpato, Edward G. Scarpato, Mary M. Lauser, Lawrence Scarpato, and Patricia Gallagher.
He will be deeply missed by his surviving nieces and nephews, along with many great-nieces, and great-nephews whose love for him was profound. His family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have shared in John's life and to those who will remember him fondly. John's kindness and generosity will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
A graveside service will be on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, 1701 Market Street, Linwood, PA 19061.
