John F. "Jack" Schaefer

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN for John F. "Jack" Schaefer, age 88 of St. Cloud, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Cloud, MN. Reverend Scott Pogatchnik will officiate. Burial of the urn will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the Church. Parish prayers will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Jack was born on April 26, 1936 in St. Cloud, MN to Arthur and Mathilda "Tillie" (Lorenzen) Schaefer. Jack married Donna Flynn on October 26, 1963. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and worked for 3M for many years in sales. Once he retired from 3M, Jack started a real estate appraisal company and worked until last summer (2024). He was an amazing businessman and had a strong work ethic. Jack was an incredible father and grandfather. He enjoyed watching his grandkids at any activity or sporting event. He loved cribbage and had a great group of friends. Jack had a strong faith in God, was a devout Catholic and enjoyed attending mass on Sundays at St. John Cantius where he attended mass growing up.
He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Kohorst, grandchildren John Henry and Catherine Kohorst, former son-in-law Brian Kohorst, brother Richard "Dick" (Diane) Schaefer, in-laws Phyllis Deinema, Sharon and Gary Anderson, Terry and Kathy Flynn, and Tom Petermeier, son Jeff Schaefer, granddaughter Tasha Schaefer; three great grandchildren; also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; wife Donna and sister Judy Janey and brother-in-law Jim Janey.
