John Scheibel Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 13, 2026.
John Henry Scheibel, born in 1945 to Mike and Theresa (Koppy) Scheibel, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

John was a man with a gentle spirit and a heart of gold. Despite health challenges early in life, John never allowed them to define him. He approached life with courage, gratitude, and humility. He had a rare gift for making people feel valued, heard, and cared for with the kindness he offered so freely.

John grew up on a small farm in Ramey, MN, the middle of 9 children; he graduated from Foley High School and attended two years of tech school in St. Cloud. He obtained his first and only job with Bolander Construction to whom he dedicated 42 years as a dispatcher. He only called in sick once in his entire career – a testament to his work ethic, reliability, and integrity.

John treated everyone he met with dignity, kindness, and respect - a rare and beautiful quality that defined the man he was.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Theresa (Koppy) Scheibel; brothers, Mike and Larry; sisters, Phyllis Sorem and Muriel Miller; brother in laws, Everett Hall and Minor Morse.

John is survived by the love of his life, Deb (Nistler) Scheibel- they shared 52 wonderful years together. They raised two children, Bryon (Bethany) and Jackie (Corey) Hylla; John shared endless love for his grandchildren, Charlie, Elliana, and Easton, who fondly called him Poppers. His grandchildren were the light of his life and filled days with laughter, joy and endless pride. He also leaves behind his siblings, Bernette Hall, Joan Morse, Linda (Ronnie) Johnson, and Gerri (Joe) Caple; brother in law, Nick Miller; sister in law, Toots; as well as many many loving family and friends.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of J.A. Wedum for exceptional compassion and care provided during John's time in hospice.

John will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
