John Henry “Hans” Schroeder, age 92, of Windthorst, Texas passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026, in Windthorst.
Vigil Service and Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst. Immediately after Mass will be celebrated with Reverend Michael Moloney, OFS, Pastor of St. Mary’s and St. Boniface Catholic Churches, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Hans was born December 1, 1933 in Windthorst to the late Frank John Schroeder and Margaret Zotz Schroeder. He graduated from Windthorst High School and was drafted into the United States Navy.
After his tour of duty, Hans was an equipment operator for Archer County until his retirement. After his retirement, he worked for Lindemann Drilling Company where he was the maintainer operator. He also operated John Schroeder Dairy for many years. Hans was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst and the Knights of Columbus.
His favorite pastime was his coon dogs and coon hunting, fishing and anything outdoors.
Survivors include two sons, Dewayne Schroeder and wife, Michelle of Wichita Falls, Ronnie Schroeder and wife, Cathy of Kadane Corner; three daughters, Rhonda Weckar and husband, Tray of Kamay, Kimbralyn Pharries of Grandfield, Oklahoma and Ganie McCurdy Veal of Windthorst; mother of his children, Kirby Blay Andrus of Wichita Falls; five sisters, Trudy Veitenheimer and husband, Walter, Mary Sternadel, Agnes Pechacek, Margie Hoffman all of Wichita Falls and Pauline Schultz of McKinney; sisters-in-law, Judy Schroeder of Wichita Falls and Alberta Schroeder of Lindsay; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; one sister, Angeline Lindemann; five brothers, Ollie, Lawrence, Otto, Francis and Buck Schroeder; and three brothers-in-law, Larry Sternadel, Richard Hoffman and Florien Lindemann.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dawson McCurdy, Ty Robertson, Jonathan Schroeder, Roy Schroeder, Ryan Schroeder and Braden Wolf.
The family suggests memorials to the Windthorst Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 162, Windthorst, Texas 76389.
