Jean E. Schroeder

1962 - 2026

Dalton, WI - Jean Elizabeth Schroeder, 63, of Dalton, WI, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at UW Hospital after a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis.

Born on June 26, 1962, Jean lived a life defined by love, strength, and devotion to her family. On February 23, 1990, Jean was united in marriage to Randy Schroeder in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jean worked as a hairdresser early in life and ended her career as an event coordinator at Trek Bicycle.

In the prime of her life, Jean found happiness in the simple pleasures. She loved going camping and spending time outdoors, deer hunting with Randy and her father-in-law Bob, riding her Harley, reading a good book, watching movies, and most of all, raising her children and caring for her family. Her strength through illness showed the depth of her character and the love she carried in her heart.

Jean was preceded in death by: her mother, Joyce Gottschalk; father, Robert Gottschalk; mother- in-law, Shirley Schroeder; father-in-law Robert Schroeder.

Jean is survived by: her loving husband, Randy; her daughters, Jennifer Rafel (Watertown), Tera Schroeder (Watertown), Britney (Adam) Passig (Juneau); her son, Jeffrey (Jayne) Rafel (Concord).

Jean was a proud grandmother to Ambraya Schroeder, Clayton Rafel, Jude Rafel, Lucy Rafel, and Vincent Passig.

Jean is also survived by her siblings: sisters, Mary Kasprzak (Michigan) Cindy (Doug) Matuszak (Watertown); brothers, David (Debbie) Scher (Watertown), Thomas Gottschalk (Watertown); sister-in-law, Laurie (Ross) Alvarado (New Lisbon), and the many nieces,nephews, and friends.

Jean will be remembered for her strength and compassion to those she loved. Her legacy lives on in her husband, children, and grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory close. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

A private family burial will take place at a later date at Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
