John Nick Schroeder Jr.

John Nick Schroeder Jr., 90, of Torrance, CA, passed away February 19, 2026, in the comfort of his home.

He was born December 4, 1935, in Brown City, MI, the son of the late John and Helen (Kielburg) Schroeder. John Jr. is one of three sons to John and Helen. His parents immigrated to the United States in April 1912. The boat they traveled on was actively searching for survivors of the Titanic sinking on April 15, 1912.

John married Janet May Smith on February 24, 1962, in Yale, MI. Together, John and Janet spent 48 loving years before her passing on April 2, 2010.

John was a 1954 graduate of Yale High School. He went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1958. After his time in service, John and Janet moved to Torrance, California, where they created a beautiful life and family together. John worked as an aerospace electrician at Hughes Aircraft, in Torrance, CA, for 28 years before retiring in 1990. He enjoyed WWII aircrafts, steam trains, and classic cars. He also loved watching football, movies, auto racing, repairing electronics, and collecting old radios and pocket watches.

John is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry (Nina) Schroeder of Torrance, CA; grandchildren, Tiffany, Katie, and Jonathan; a brother-in-law, Ronald (Kay) Smith; nieces, Melanie (Robert) Majcher and Andrea (William) Gleason; and nephews, Scott (Nichole) Smith and William (Dede) Schroeder.

He was preceded in death by a son, John Scott Schroeder, III and two brothers, Robert and Michael Schroeder.

The family honors the memory of John and invites you to attend graveside services Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Yale. Pastor Lisa Clark, pastor of Capac Methodist Church, will officiate.
