On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, John Schwarzinger surrendered his years-long battle against
cancer. John was born on July 18, 1957 to Emilie and John Schwarzinger. He grew up in Stow
and lived his whole adult life in Akron, Ohio. John worked as a Physical Therapist at Altercare
where “everybody loves John” for over 20 years after a long run as a foreman at Jones
Chemical Plant. He was also on the board and heavily involved in bar management at Akron
German Family Society.
John Schwarzinger was a family man, leaving behind his wife of 49 years, Janice Schwarzinger
as well as two adult children Jaime Gibson and James (Jimmy) Schwarzinger. He has four
grandchildren: Jessica, Noelle, Raine, and Colten. He also leaves behind his sister, Sylvia and
her two children Trista and Amanda as well as brother-in-law John Zidan (Deborah). He was
longtime family friends with the Leuenberger family, and he will be reuniting with his best friends
Bob and Dave. John was an involved father and grandfather, and was always full of love for his
family. He loved to man the grill and have all of the family over for picnics in the back yard,
which was always meticulously cared for. He was a reliable and safe adult for all of the
neighborhood kids, especially when his own children were growing up.
There will be calling hours from 5:00-8:00 on June 5th, 2025 at Northampton Town Hall 851 W.
Bath Road, Cuyahoga Falls and a funeral service, June 6th starting 10:30 am at St. Matthew
Parish 2603 Benton Ave., Akron. Internment is in Holy Cross Cemetery.
