John Patrick Sciblo

John Patrick Sciblo, 76, of Pleasant Mount, died on December 10, 2025 at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media, PA.

Born on April 26, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late John and Ellen (Keegan) Sciblo. He was a proud and decorated US Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 3 bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, Civil Actions 1st class with Palm, a Purple Heart recipient and Rifle Marksmanship Badge.

He worked many years as a self-employed plumber and contractor. John was a member of the Marine Corp League and volunteered many hours with Toys for Tots. He was also a member of several other local veteran organizations. He had a strong Catholic faith attending St. Juliana's Church in Rock Lake.

He was an avid oarsman, Stotesbury Regatta gold medalist and was the inaugural coach of Northeast Catholic High School. John loved that outdoors and nature that northern Wayne County had to offer. He also loved spending time with his dogs.

Surviving are his children, John Patrick Sciblo and wife Elizabeth of Garnet Valley, PA, Ellen Dillon and husband Kevin of Havertown, PA; his son, Andrew Sciblo of Drexel Hill, PA; his sister, Rosemary Sciblo of Lansdale, PA: his brother, Robert Sciblo of Havertown, PA. He is also survived by his grandsons, Braeden, Christian and Andrew Dillon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 20th at St. Juliana's Church, Rock Lake at 11:30 am. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Juliana's Cemetery. Friends may visit Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale, on Saturday, 9 to 10:30.
