John Anthony Scimeca

John Anthony Scimeca was born on January 16th, 1933, passed away on March 14th, 2026. Loving husband of late Marie (Couty) Scimeca for 56 years. Loving Father to Theresa, John and late Anthony, Loving Papa to Jennifer (Renato) Casali, Jenna (Frank) Floss, Josh, Sara, Emma, Terriann (Luke) Radar, Cody (Valerie) Browning, Anna and John. Great Grandfather to Sophie, Ben, Riven, and Maven.

John was born and raised in Chicago and lived a life defined by service and hard work. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, carrying that sense of duty and dedication throughout the rest of his life.

After his time in the military, John became known to family, friends, and neighbors as the person you could always call when something needed fixing. A talented handyman, he loved remodeling houses, tackling repair projects, and lending a hand to anyone who needed help. If something was broken, he believed it could be fixed-and he was usually the one to do it.

John loved his sweets and his soulmate, Marie even more. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at Salerno Galewood Chapels on Friday, March 20th from 3:00p.m. till 8:00p.m. Prayer service will be on Saturday, March 21st starting at 10:00a.m. at the funeral home. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
