He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1954, and married Joyce Mae Vernon on a beautiful spring day on March 20, 1959. Mike had several jobs early in his adult life but spent most of his career with the Frisco/Burlington-Northern Railroad, retiring in 1997. Mike was a member of Glendale Christian Church for over 50 years. Mike loved family time and playing games, traveling with his beloved wife Joyce, and was always up for a good dessert, especially walnut pie.

He is survived by his daughter, Jo Lynne (Jodie) Chenoweth and husband Kelly of Joplin; four grandchildren - Lindsey Sjorlund and husband Malachi, Vanessa Lumby and husband Jacob, Scott Lea and wife Kathryn, and Sam Chenoweth and wife Bailey; as well as his sister Georgia White. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Lennox and Maddox Sjorlund, Josie Mae and Sawyer Chenoweth, and Arthur Lumby, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m.
