John G. Selzer Jr.

John G. Selzer, Jr., of Mt. Royal, NJ, passed away at Cooper Hospital on October 2, 2025. He was 78.

Born in Mt. Holly, NJ, to John Sr. and Florence (Groth) Selzer, John is 1 of 7 siblings.

John was always ready and armed with a comeback or joke, always keeping family and friends on their toes. Joking aside – John was a kind man, knowing when time was to be serious and always willing to help. He loved spending time outside and was very active. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Many memories were made with a fishing pole nearby. He liked to ski, bowl, golf and cooking. Family and friends always looked forward to his Facebook posts, sharing his latest creation. John and his wife, Eileen, were also world travelers. One of their most memorable trips was during a cruise, they visited Baden-Baden, Germany which was where some of his family was originally from!

John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eileen (nee Sparks); daughter Karla Banks and her husband Roger, and son John and his wife Sandi; his siblings, Marge Spilker (Walter), Andrew Selzer, Steven Selzer (Cindy), Tim Selzer (Freda), Mark Selzer and Lura Marshall and her husband Eric; and his grandchildren, Evan and Erika. John is also survived by his brother-in-law, Gary Sparks and lifelong friend, Bruce Huttner, as well as many extended family members of nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as his dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, October 11, 2025, beginning at 10:00 am in the McGuinness Funeral Home – Sewell, located at 573 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell. Words of Remembrance will begin at 11:00 am. John will be laid to rest at Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown, following the services at the funeral home.
