John Steven Sheffield, 76, of Russellville, KY, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Greenville, KY, on May 24, 1949, John pursued his education at Western Kentucky University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Sociology. Following his undergraduate studies, he proudly served his country in the United States military, attaining the rank of Spec 4. During his service, John was stationed in Italy, where he met the love of his life, Katherine Ann Sheffield. The two went on to share 51 wonderful years of marriage.

After completing his military service, John returned to Russellville, KY, where he pursued a Master's Degree in Public Administration and built a distinguished career in banking. Later in his career, he graduated from the prestigious Stonier Graduate School of Banking. John began his banking journey in 1974 as a teller at Southern Deposit Bank, where he rose to serve as Vice President. In 2002, he became President of Auburn Bank, a position he held until his retirement in 2015. He continued to serve as Chairman of the Board until 2021. Throughout his career, John was admired not only for his leadership but also for the genuine care and respect he showed to his colleagues and community.

John's passions extended far beyond his professional life. He was an avid golfer, a devoted fan of Kentucky sports, and a man who treasured time with his many friends. Above all, his greatest joy came from his family, whom he cherished deeply. John is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine Ann Sheffield; his son, Dustin Sheffield; and his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Sheffield. He will be dearly missed by his family, his friends, and the community he touched with his warmth, kindness, and dedication.
